Lot 92: Tanya Ragir - "Seductive Armor"
Tanya Ragir is a California based artist whose work can be found in many important collections including; The Joffery Ballet, `Art in Public Places, Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul, Korea and Cultural Philosophic Center, Stockholm, Sweden. Sculpture is not cast from the body but are rather sculpted in clay then molded and fired. It's one of a kind and not part of an edition. The work emphasizes the relation between landscape and the human form. It exhibits a great reverence for grace and attempt to find a balance between sensuality and power. Frank Hyder Golden Rhythm 40" high by 36" wide, mixed medium including gold and copper leafing on wood panel painted with both oil and acrylic, highly varnished. Golden Rhythms is part of Hyder's "Koi" Collection. The work fairly glistens with light and warmth. It is both highly decorative and culturally evocative, speaking to the vanishing species that inhabit the earth. Franks work is collected by Elton John as well as many well known entertainers. His work can also be found in the US State department and in embassies throughout the world. He has been honored by the Venezuelan government and has received both a Senior Fulbright Award as well a US Embassy Cultural Grant, among other prizes. His work is part of the Library of Congress Collection, Philadelphia Museum of Art Collection and hangs in many important private collections.
